# Connect your agent

Forge works with the AI product you already use. You add Forge's address, `https://forge-base.com/mcp`, in that product's settings, then sign in to Forge. Your agent can then do anything your Forge account is allowed to do.

## Choose where you will use it

Decide where you want to use Forge before you start: a website, a desktop app, your phone, the terminal or a code editor. Some products connect once for your whole account. Others need Forge adding separately in each app, so test every place you plan to use.

## ChatGPT Chat and Work

Forge connects to ChatGPT as a custom app. This works on chatgpt.com in a browser only, not in the ChatGPT desktop or phone apps.

Before you start:

- Your ChatGPT plan needs Developer mode.
- On Pro, your agent can read from Forge but cannot make changes.
- On Business, Enterprise or Edu, your admin may need to turn on Developer mode and approve the app.

1. On chatgpt.com, turn on **Developer mode**.
2. Go to **Settings → Apps → Create**. On a work account this may be **Workspace settings → Apps → Create**.
3. Paste `https://forge-base.com/mcp` as the address.
4. Sign in to Forge when asked.
5. Click **Create**.

If you don't see **Apps → Create**, go to **Settings → Security and login → Developer mode**, then **ChatGPT Plugins → +**, and paste the same address.

## Codex desktop

1. Open Codex desktop's MCP settings.
2. Add `https://forge-base.com/mcp`.
3. Sign in to Forge when asked.

Codex CLI and the Codex code editor extension can often use the same setup. Check Forge appears in each one you use. This does not connect ChatGPT on the web or your phone.

## Codex CLI and IDE

1. Add `https://forge-base.com/mcp` to Codex's MCP settings. If you have already set up Codex desktop, the CLI and editor extension may already share it.
2. Sign in to Forge when asked.
3. Check Forge appears in the terminal or editor you use.

This does not connect ChatGPT on the web or your phone.

## Claude Chat and Desktop

Before you start: on the Free plan you can add one custom connector. On Team or Enterprise, an owner may need to add it for you.

1. In Claude, go to **Customize → Connectors**.
2. Add a custom connector with the address `https://forge-base.com/mcp`.
3. Sign in to Forge when asked.

Once connected, Forge works on claude.ai and in the Claude desktop app.

## Claude Cowork

Cowork uses the same connectors as Claude. Connect Forge once using the Claude steps above, then open Cowork and check it can see your Forge workspace.

## Claude Code

Claude Code can use the remote connector too. Its settings are separate from the Claude website, so open Claude Code and check Forge and your workspace appear there before you rely on it.

## Grok Chat

1. Go to [grok.com/connectors](https://grok.com/connectors).
2. Add `https://forge-base.com/mcp`.
3. Sign in to Forge when asked.

On Business or Enterprise, your admin may need to set this up. This works on the Grok website. We haven't tested the Grok phone app yet.

## Grok Bot

Grok Bot is separate from Grok Chat and has no Forge setup yet. Use Grok Chat on the web instead.

## Cursor

1. In Cursor, add Forge at **Customize → MCPs** with the address `https://forge-base.com/mcp`.
2. Sign in to Forge when asked.

Cursor CLI can use the same setup. If your team manages Cursor centrally, ask your admin to add Forge as a Team MCP Server instead. Forge works in Cursor on desktop and in the terminal. We haven't tested Cursor on a phone.

## Other MCP

If your AI app can connect to MCP servers with a sign-in:

1. Add `https://forge-base.com/mcp`.
2. Sign in to Forge when asked.
3. Run the check below.

If your app can only be set up on one computer at a time, add Forge in each app you use.

## Test it in each place you use it

In each app, website or device you use:

1. Check you are signed in to the right Forge account and can see the right workspace.
2. Ask your agent to read one of your tasks.
3. If your account can make changes, ask it to make a small test change, then check you can see that change in the other places you use.

## Check it worked

```
List the Forge workspaces I can access. Do not change anything.
```
