Documents and artefacts
Forge calls a finished document it produces for you, such as a quote, report or certificate, an "artefact". Start with a draft so the facts, wording and layout can be checked before anything goes out, for example before a solar handover certificate is issued to a customer.
Before you start
Creating a PDF or a share link is the "issue" step. Doing it doesn't check the content is correct, and it doesn't send anything to anyone automatically.
Create and check a draft
- Ask for a draft document for the job, built from the approved template.
- Check the recipient and the source facts before you go any further.
- Preview the draft in the format your reader will see it, for example as a PDF.
- Issue it, or create a share link, only once you're happy with it.
Keep the issued document with its task or source records. If something changes afterwards, prepare and check a new draft rather than quietly changing what an earlier recipient already received.
Create a draft [document type] for [job] from the approved template. Show me the facts and recipient before you issue or share it.
Preview this draft as the recipient will see it. List missing facts, approval points and any share action separately; do not issue it.
