# Templates

A template is a ready-made starting point, for example a standard quote layout or an inspection checklist. It saves your team from rebuilding the same structure every time.

## Choose a template

1. Open **Templates** to see what's available.
2. Before changing a shared template, check who owns it. If only one job needs something different, make a one-off draft instead of editing the shared template.

## Master and draft

The shared template is the master: it gets reused for every future job. A draft is a one-off copy made from it for a particular task, customer or response. Only change the master when you want the change to apply to everyone's future work going forward. Keep job-specific facts, wording and review comments in the draft, so one job doesn't accidentally change everyone else's next document.

Check what information a template needs before creating a draft from it. A template gives you a consistent layout: it doesn't fill in missing job facts or approve the finished document for you.
